An extremely important part of any business is its sales team. The very existence of any business depends on its sales. You might be able to make an excellent product. But if are not able to sell the product you are doomed. Sales negotiation skills are extremely important, in any business.

A good sales person is a kind of a tight rope walker. You should have excellent negotiation skills, should be aggressive and diplomatic at the same time. You should be a psychologist, mind reader and body language reader at the same time. You should be a good listener. It is not easy to overcome the objections of the buyer and sell the product. You have to coax, cajole perhaps at times even intimidate the buyer to buy your product. You are always under intense pressure. The very survival of business depends on you.

A sales person could be pushed to the edge of the precipice, during a sales negotiation but has to claw back, just to survive. Your survival skills could rival that of a sailor marooned in the high seas in a boat. You have to be very resourceful and should be able to think quickly on your feet.

Buyer will always bargain hard, act as if they not too willing buy the product. They might pose as if they are ready to quit negotiation. It is extremely important to have a very good knowledge of your product, as well as that of competition. You could highlight the good points of your product and point out the advantages over that of its rivals.

The seller often asks what your best price is. If you mention your lowest price the buyer might try to haggle on this price. So never ever reveal your lowest price at the first instance. The final price should be arrived at only after intense negotiations. Only then the buyer will be satisfied.

If the buyer thinks that you have no other options, then you would under intense pressure to yield to his demand. The same holds good to the seller too. If the buyer has no other option he has to yield to your terms and conditions. But it is extremely important to build up a good relationship with the buyer as this would help to build your reputation.
